I, along with a few friends, went to Wilsons Promontory last weekend. For those who do not know, Wilsons Promontory is the southern most part of the Australian mainland and boasts of beautiful beaches with white sand, mountains and stunning scenery.

The Prom, as it is popularly known, has a number of camping sites which are required to be booked before you actually go there and start camping. For those not-so-interested-in-camping, alternative accommodation is available at nominal rates at Yanakie (the nearest town to Prom), Foster and Fish Creek etc. There are numerous activities that you can undertake depending on your interests. Some of them include but in no way are limited to bush walking, mountain climbing, surfing, diving and off course - beach cricket.

On our way back the next day, I thought is was only wise to make the best of the opportunity so we went to Phillip Island as well. Lucky for us, there was a motor show at the Phillip Island MotoGP circuit and we feasted on some of best cars I have ever seen loaded with all the accessories you can imagine. However, on the other side we were too early to get a glimpse of the world famous Penguin march as it only starts around 9pm and it was not possible for us to wait for so long as we had to be back by evening. May be next time.

Here is the link to some of the pictures.

With only 200kms south east of Melbourne, Wilsons Prom is a perfect getaway for the weekend and have some time off from busy city life.

Fat, Forty and FiredHave just finished reading this book, authored by Nigel Marsh, a forty years old CEO of an advertising agency which is closed as a result of an international merger and thus, leaves him without a job. His boss offers him a ‘seat in the bus‘ but he decides to give his seat up as ‘the bus was traveling in a direction he did not wish to go‘, so he ends up taking a year off from the ‘hamster wheel‘.

Not only is the book written in a very humorous and informal style, the author relives numerous moments with his family that he had been missing on while he worked full time and ends the book with a very suitable advice, as he puts it:

“You’ve got to be careful what you wish for in life. It may not turn out to be as wonderful as the fantasy. With the right attitude, the bad bits aren’t always that bad and indeed most of the time they are the very reason you actually enjoy the good bits

Can’t agree any more with the last line. Weekends would not be any fun if everyday was Sunday.

An absolute must-read for everyone (talk about unwanted advice).

on your way to work in Melbourne?

Easy. Just get a bucket of water and catch a Hitachi train to work on a warm morning and enjoy.

1. Was away for an overseas trip for about 2 months. Sure I had fun.

2. The very next day I returned I bought an iMac, the one I wrote about in my previous post. Last few weeks I have been busy tweaking it, creating cards, organizing music and photos, creating dvds and enjoying all an iMac has to offer. This is probably one of the best investments I have made in the recent past.

iMacCall it my ignorance (and please pardon it), I was not aware that Apple is releasing Mac OS X’s next version Leopard when I went to buy it. Surely I was disappointed when I learned that Leopard will be released in another two weeks time, needless to say I had Tiger on my iMac.

I called up Apple support when I realized what an absolute sin I had committed and was delighted to hear from one of the ‘friendly’ csr’s that Apple is offering Mac os X v10.5 Leopard installs to all the qualifying Macintosh computers purchased between 1st October 2007 and 29th December 2007 at a nominal cost of AUD$12.95 (shipping and handling charges). Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Here is the link to the order form,,,just in case.

As if iMac were not appealing enough to me earlier that they had to come up with this. Not only they are better, they are cheaper as well from the previous lot.

Temptations sometimes are hard to resist.
