While Apple has done almost everything possible to keep iPhone’s operating system as much under the wraps as possible, Google seems to have hit the first nail in iPhone’s coffin by making its G Phone’s operating system ‘Android’ open source.
There is no doubt about the popularity of Apple’s latest baby but people seem to have had enough of Apple’s approach that restricts iPhone users to be able to install and use Apple applications only. iPhone-dev team has certainly been the front runners jail-breaking and unlocking different iPhone versions ever since it went on sale.
Only time will tell how these two different strategies from two of the most innovative companies pan out, but it is the mobile phone users who stand to gain for sure.

Here is just another reason why it is not a good idea to litter the web with your personal information - intentionally or otherwise.
It is amazing how the bits of information available here and there on the web makes it easy for someone’s identity to be compromised. Social networking sites like facebook, myspace and the likes make it way too easy for the identity thieves to gather as much information as they like from the individual’s profile, especially the unsuspecting who think what harm could there possibly be in posting their pictures from times immemorial to mentioning about their likes, dislikes, favorite movie and what not!
Have a think about the secret questions to your bank account, especially if one of them is the pet name mentioned on your orkut profile.

With Windows Vista not having gone down well with the masses, the news (been a while actually) of Microsoft planning to end all sales of Microsoft XP on the 30th June later this year has done no favor to the millions of Windows XP users who are so disappointed at Microsoft’s decision that online petitions are being signed to save Windows XP from being phased out completely.
While I strongly believe in evolution as a mean to better technology, or anything else for that matter, it is rather not fair on Microsoft’s part to force almost 70% business and 60% home users to stop using Windows XP.
I would recommend, at least to home users, to try Mac OS X or Linux (Ubuntu is one among the best) and explore the world outside the confines of Windoze.
