Have just finished reading this book, authored by Nigel Marsh, a forty years old CEO of an advertising agency which is closed as a result of an international merger and thus, leaves him without a job. His boss offers him a ‘seat in the bus‘ but he decides to give his seat up as ‘the bus was traveling in a direction he did not wish to go‘, so he ends up taking a year off from the ‘hamster wheel‘.
Not only is the book written in a very humorous and informal style, the author relives numerous moments with his family that he had been missing on while he worked full time and ends the book with a very suitable advice, as he puts it:
“You’ve got to be careful what you wish for in life. It may not turn out to be as wonderful as the fantasy. With the right attitude, the bad bits aren’t always that bad and indeed most of the time they are the very reason you actually enjoy the good bits”
Can’t agree any more with the last line. Weekends would not be any fun if everyday was Sunday.
An absolute must-read for everyone (talk about unwanted advice).
